Deliveroo reveals Claudia Arney as new chair ahead of rumoured London float

Deliveroo has appointed former Premier League acting chair Claudia Arney as its first board chair.

The delivery start-up is reportedly preparing to go public next year, and is reported to have appointed Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan to advise on a prospective multibillion pound initial public offering.

One of the UK's top businesspeople, Arney has held senior positions at the Treasury and Goldman Sachs, and comes with board-level experience at Ocado Group, the property developer Derwent London, and Kingfisher.

Deliveroo founder and chief executive, Will Shu, said: “Claudia brings a huge amount of experience and expertise to this role and we are all delighted and excited that she is coming on board.

"We are focused on becoming the definitive food company and I know she’ll help us achieve that mission.”

Arney said she is "thrilled" to be joining Deliveroo, which launched in 2013, "for the next stage of their journey".

"I look forward to bringing the combination of my experience in building technology-enabled businesses and of serving on the Boards of companies facing a wide variety of opportunities and challenges to Deliveroo as it continues to grow and develop.
