Bust Powa was among Wagner’s other firm’s biggest clients

Dan Wagner’s failed unicorn Powa was one of the biggest customers of Attraqt, an e-commerce company founded and chaired by the controversial tech entrepreneur, it emerged today.

Powa Technologies paid Attraqt, which is listed on London’s junior AIM market, more than £100,000 last year.

Powa had been a “unicorn” — a tech start-up valued at more than $1 billion (£700 million).

Attraqt, whose online search tool is used by the likes of Tesco and Superdry, made £2.9 million in revenues from 110 customers — averaging £26,000 each.

While it would not divulge client information, the company, in which Wagner retains a 13% stake, confirmed that Powa was one of its biggest clients last year.

Wagner has come under fire for burning through $220 million at Powa in just a few years, culminating in the company going bust with 74 of the 143 employees losing their jobs in February.

Administrators Deloitte saved 69 jobs by selling its three businesses.

The AIM-listed company sublet offices from Powa in Heron Tower until last month, but only paid a fraction of the £2.3 million Powa shelled out in 2015.

Commenting on Powa’s demise, an Attraqt spokesman said: “There’s no financial impact whatsoever.” Wagner could not be reached for comment.
