Primark owner buys chapatti flour brand from Premier Foods Premier Foods: Robert Schofield, chief executive of the firm behind household brands such as Hovis, thinks speculation has made some markets much more volatile

Britain’s biggest producer of chapatti flour changed hands today for £34 million.

Premier Foods, which owns Ranks Hovis McDougall, is selling the Southampton-based Westmill Foods to rival Associated British Foods.

Westmills biggest brand is Elephant Atta which it claims is used by half Britain’s Asian families.

Premier said it would use the cash to pay down debt.
