Major share sell-offs damaged challenger bank Aldermore and brickmaker Ibstock. AnaCap, one of Aldermore’s founding investors, dumped £114 million of shares in a placing at 220p, causing the price to tumble 16.2p to 223.8p.
Bain Capital’s £97 million sale of Ibstock shares dragged it down 9.03p to 202.87p.
C&C Group sank 28 cents to €3.60 after the Irish brewer of Magners cider warned that the fall in sterling had eaten into profits.
