BP chief executive Tony Hayward's pay rose by 16.5% to £2.5 million last year, during which he ordered thousands of redundancies at the oil giant.

He also got £336,000 worth of free shares from BP's incentives programme.

Chairman Peter Sutherland cemented his place as one of the UK's best paid part-time directors with a 16% rise to £600,000.
