Alison Carnwath, the former investment banker who caused tidal waves in the boardroom when she became chairman of property giant Land Securities last year, is joining Barclays as a non-executive director.
Her appointment follows the departures of journalist Patience Wheatcroft, academic Dame Sandra Dawson and Sir Nigel Rudd in the past year.
