Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic face off in a blockbuster second men’s semi-final showdown at Wimbledon today. The defending champion and 24-time Grand Slam winner clash on Centre Court after British wildcard Arthur Fery’s incredible run was halted in straight sets by a ruthless display from Alexander Zverev, who will be looking to add to his recent French Open crown on Sunday. But he will have a tough task against either Sinner or Djokovic, who will both fancy their chances of another title at the All England Club.

Sinner has looked in excellent form since a surprise wobble in the opening round as he was taken all the way in a five-set comeback win by Miomir Kecmanovic, defeating Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarter-finals and not dropping a further set in victories over Nuno Borges, Jenson Brooksby and Shintaro Mochizuki. He may well be fresher than Djokovic, who beat third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in a draining epic on Tuesday having seen off Roman Safiullin, Arthur Rinderknech, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Wu Yibing.

Sinner edges the all-time ATP head-to-head record between this duo 6-5, though lost their last meeting in the Australian Open semi-finals back in January. Follow Sinner vs Djokovic live below, with updates from Standard Sport’s Matt Verri on Centre Court.

Live updates

Sinner 6-4 *0-1 Djokovic

Sinner turning the screw now.

Backhand down the line, against Djokovic hurls himself towards it on the slide but he can’t quite get there. 15-30.

Frustration from Sinner as he nets that forehand, before Djokovic forces the mistake in the next rally.

First serve when he really needed it. Hold.

Sinner 6-4 Djokovic

Great return from Djokovic, right at the feet of Sinner. He’s not out of this set yet.

Sinner waggles his racket towards his box after finding his spot with the first serve out wide. 30-15, two points away.

That’s too good. Brutal serve and volley, even with Djokovic doing the splits behind the baseline to try and get there. Two set points.

Djokovic saves the first, flat backhand down the line is a good one. 40-30.

But Sinner takes the second! He lands the first blow in this semi-final.

Sinner *5-4 Djokovic

That feels like a big point. Djokovic should put a forehand away, but Sinner reads it and gets it back, with the help of a slight flick off the net.

Djokovic off balance as a result of that and leaves Sinner with a simple shot at the net. 15-30.

Two break points! Djokovic again stretching in defence but this time he slices wide.

WOW. Sinner does everything right in the point, until he slams an overhead low into the net. Incredible miss. 30-40.

We’ll forgive that... because that is a stunning backhand pass down the line!

Sinner breaks and will serve for the set.

Sinner 4-4* Djokovic

Djokovic yet to put any real pressure on Sinner’s serve. Throws his arms out in frustration as he sends this return wide off the second serve, knows that was a chance.

He does brilliantly to stay in this point, sliding behind the baseline, but Sinner is up at the net and puts away the volley.

Sinner lands another first serve out wide that doesn’t come back. Level again.

Sinner *3-4 Djokovic

He had to save break points in his previous service game but no such issues for Djokovic here.

Finding the first serve and getting the cheap points to go with it.

Double fault will frustrate Djokovic but 40-0 is as good a time for that as any.

Makes up for it with an ace out wide to edge in front once more.

Sinner 3-3* Djokovic

Djokovic constructs the point well, but doesn’t quite get enough on the drop shot. Clips the top of the net.

He then takes a step to his right, guessing on the Sinner serves. It is launched down to his left. Ace.

Djokovic’s return has too much on it and Sinner holds to love.

Sinner *2-3 Djokovic

Both looking supreme on serve so far. That is until I say that and Djokovic responds with a double fault. My apologies.

Another bruising exchange from the back of the court, Sinner forces the error. 30-30 and this is as good as it has got for either of them returning.

Break point! Sinner is definitely looking stronger the longer the rallies go. Puts away this overhead confidently.

But Djokovic saves the break point, brave backhand down the line. Deuce.

He holds with an ace. First real challenge overcome.

Sinner 2-2* Djokovic

Two unusually loose returns from Djokovic. Will be frustrated he didn’t at least neutralise those serves to get himself in the point.

World number one dominating the baseline exchanges in this game, wearing Djokovic down.

Then levels the set with a swinging ace out wide.

Sinner *1-2 Djokovic

Djokovic with an ace down the T as the confident serving continues, but Sinner then nails a crosscourt return. Landed just inside the line.

Sinner going very deep with his forehands... too deep. Skids off the baseline but it’s out. Djokovic looked like he had been electrocuted trying to get that back.

No damage done, routine hold.

Sinner 1-1* Djokovic

Sinner’s turn to race 30-0 up, but Djokovic then benefits from a net cord that just rolls over onto the other side of the court.

Doesn’t matter in the end. Two first serves later and it’s a hold.
