Levy: I won't quit Spurs

"It will all be forgotten in a couple of days. We've now made an appointment. Martin Jol's in charge and we have a match against Burnley tonight. That's what we now focus on. What's happened in the last few days we will put behind us and move forward."

In the wake of Jol's confirmation as Spurs' new head coach at yesterday's AGM, Levy also claimed it was in fact a strength of his coaching structure that an appointment could be made so swiftly.

Dismissing talk of internal bust-ups in the build-up to Santini's departure, he added: "The reality is that we had a good relationship with Jacques. We knew he had a few personal problems, we were not aware of what they were. We respected his privacy and he got to the stage where he said he could not give the job 100 per cent of his attention and he needed to be relieved of his duties and we had to respect that.

"He went back to France twice but he decided that whatever his personal problem was it couldn't be dealt with in that manner.

"Ideally we didn't want that situation but the beauty of the structure we have here allows us to bring in another coach."

Jol received polite applause from around 500 fans when he was introduced at yesterday's AGM. He made a short speech telling of his affection for the club.

The club, who have given Jol a three-year contract, also confirmed that Chris Hughton will be promoted to assistant coach.

The pair will take charge of their first official game together at Turf Moor in tonight's televised Carling Cup clash.
