Dismissing talk of internal bust-ups in the build-up to Santini's departure, he added: "The reality is that we had a good relationship with Jacques. We knew he had a few personal problems, we were not aware of what they were. We respected his privacy and he got to the stage where he said he could not give the job 100 per cent of his attention and he needed to be relieved of his duties and we had to respect that.
