Tottenham spurned the chance to move four points clear of West Ham United in the battle to stay in the Premier League after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United on Monday. Roberto De Zerbi’s side went ahead through Mathys Tel’s sumptuous curler, but the Frenchman went from hero to zero as he conceded a penalty later in the second period.
He was adjudged to have kicked Ethan Amapdu in the head as the pair contended for a high ball, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised emphatically from the spot. Antonin Kinsky saved superbly from Sean Longstaff deep into the 13 additional minutes, as the midfielder broke into the box and lashed an effort from close range.
Kinsky tipped the strike onto the bar, as Spurs clung on, and they were denied a late penalty as Lukas Nmecha collided with the returning James Maddison, who went down under the striker’s challenge. The result leaves the hosts two points clear of the drop zone with two game remaining, and they travel to Chelsea next.

Sam Tabuteau reports
Tottenham have had all the territory this half, and the stats reflect that. Spurs have had 18 touches in the opposition box while Leeds have had five. That said, they come within a toe of potentially conceding a penalty after Calvert-Lewin is ruled offside after being hauled down by Udogie. This game remains firmly in the balance.
