Mercury Prize-nominated duo Jungle hid public school education

Mercury Prize-nominated duo Jungle today told of how they hid their public school education so people focused on their music rather than their backgrounds.

Tom McFarland, 24, and Josh Lloyd-Watson, 25, were both educated at Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith but kept quiet because of “snobbery”.

McFarland said: “People do judge people on things like that and the thing is my mum worked very hard to put me through that school. She wasn’t in any way privileged.”

The London based soul collective released their first single, The Heat last October and were nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2014 prize in the December.
