Barry's not just a pretty nose

Over the years, Barry Manilow's most prominent feature has remained unchanged.

But remarkably, it seems, so has the rest of his face.

The 62-year-old singer with the unmistakable nasal profile appears to have been unaffected by the passing of time.

And as he arrived at a pre-Grammy awards party, he revealed an almost impossibly smooth, almost wrinkle-free, complexion.

'Barry does not seem to have aged one iota,' said a fellow partygoer at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.

'He has the same blond-tinted hair, although it is slightly less bouffant nowadays, and the same glowing permatan.

'But what is most striking - aside from his huge nose - is that his skin is so unlined.

'From a distance, he really does have the skin of a 30-year-old.' Perhaps Manilow's one concession to his more mature years was his more sedate dress sense - for him, at least.

His tailored red wine- coloured satin suit and black silk tie were certainly less flamboyant than the ruffled taffeta suits and blue leather jackets of years gone by.

Manilow's remarkably youthful appearance has prompted speculation that he has had a second bout of cosmetic surgery.

In 2003, the New York-born singer, who is currently playing three nights a week at the Las Vegas Hilton, was thought to have had a complete upper and lower facelift.

At the time, he was photographed emerging from a Beverly Hills clinic sporting a woman's long blonde wig, a baseball cap and sunglasses. The unconventional look was rounded off with a unseemly surgical gauze worn under his chin.

Plastic surgeon Alex Karidis, from St John and St Elizabeth hospital in North London, believes Manilow may have avoided the facelift this time in favour of other less invasive procedures.
