However, sat-nav isn’t standard on any of the three trims, but is an option. If you look at the dashboard it looks like there isn’t much there anyway, with just one big dial and a small touchscreen in the middle and only a few other controls. That simplicity suits the car.
The engine line-up doesn’t include a V8 but we’d definitely settle for the 1.2-litre petrol engine as its zip and zing perfectly suit the car.
Whatever the trim, you get seven airbags which is only part of the reason why the Fiat 500 has the full five-star rating with Euro NCAP. Hopefully you won’t be troubling the airbags as the handling is light and nippy and the steering is delightfully light. Even so, press ‘city’ and it gets lighter still for easy manoeuvrability in the city. You can comfortably travel in rural areas but in the city the Fiat 500 works wonderfully well.

Above all though we love the styling. Put it next to the original of 1957 and you can clearly see the lineage. It’s funky, retro, modern, everything you want it to be, the perfect addition to a busy city life.
