Despite earning the sort of money - a reputed £25 million a year - that could easily allow them to take a back-seat role, the pair still has daily involvement with Friends, devising plots, writing scripts and being on set during filming. While Friends and Personals share similar themes, the pair says the play is unlikely to transfer to television. "To be honest, Personals feels like something we did a while ago," Crane says. "It was 15 years ago, and while it's great to know it's being revived, it is something from our past."
