Reel comedy at Ealing festival

The centre of the British comedy film industry has been the famous Ealing Studios in West London for many years - in fact it's a century since the studios first came into being.

Since then classic movies such as Kind Heart And Coronetshave given the Studios the reputation of being the heart of our film industry - and to celebrate 100 years of film-making, Ealing Studios is launching its very own festival.

The Ealing Film Festival 2002, held from the 5th to the 26th of September is in partnership with UGC cinemas, and will see a special programme of movies, screened at the UGC Cinemas Ealing, Uxbridge Road, combining comedy classics with the latest side-splitting releases.

Highlights of the festival include a special preview of The Importance of Being Earnest (starring Colin Firth and Rupert Everett) as well as the British premiere of Puckoon - based on the hilarious novel by the late Spike Milligan, and starring Sean Hughes, Richard Attenborough, Elliot Gould and Griff Rhys Jones.

There are also screenings of six classic Ealing comedies, Monty Python's Life of Brian and The Holy Grail, British-Asian comedy hit East Is East, plus a series of children's movies to keep the whole family entertained.
