Tom Bleasby has quit the X Factor despite being saved by mentor Nick Grimshaw in the Six Chair Challenge to make it through to Judges’ Houses.

In a statement, The X Factor said the 19-year-old singer cited “personal reasons” for his decision to step down.

“We can confirm that Tom Bleasby has chosen to withdraw from the competition due to personal reasons," it read.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">Due to personal reasons I have decided to withdraw from The X Factor. Thank you to all the judges, especially Nick for his belief in me. — Tom Bleasby (@TomBleasby) <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/TomBleasby/status/653622921370447873" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-3088696-https://twitter.com/TomBleasby/status/653622921370447873" data-vars-event-id="c23">October 12, 2015</a>

He continued: "I want to wish all the contestants the best of luck and thank you to the public for supporting me and my dream.”

His decision comes a day after viewers saw the singing hopeful get swapped back into the Six Chair Challenge by Grimshaw.

The teenager impressed with his performance of Whitney Houston’s I Look to You with Grimshaw telling him: “You have got something unique that I don’t think anyone else has got.”

But he was then swapped out for Ben Clark before the crowds calling for him to "bring him back" persuaded Grimshaw to give Bleasby a seat and wave goodbye to Nathanael Landskroner .
