X Factor 2015: Monica Michael to return as wildcard

The singing hopeful has been given a second chance at winning the ITV talent show

X Factor has confirmed that Monica Michael will be returning to the show as a wildcard.

Monica was booted off of the ITV talent show on Sunday night after Rita Ora failed to take her through to Live Shows from Judges’ Houses.

But the youth worker has been given a second chance thanks to the shows ‘wildcard’ which sees the judges choose a contestant to bring back.

The news was announced on the official X Factor Twitter account, which tweeted: “We are VERY excited to announce that this year's #XFactor Wild Card IS...@monicamichaeluk! #XtraFactor.

Monica also tweeted the news, telling fans that it isn’t a cruel Halloween trick.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor, head judge Simon Cowell said: “There was always going to be a wild card. It’s not a given, but we always like that opportunity. Funny enough we all spoke to each other on Monday… it is crazy not to bring one person back”.

The singing hopeful joins Louisa Johnson, Lauren Murray and Kiera Weathers in Rita Ora's girls category.

It is the second time that Monica has appeared on the X Factor. She was in Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's category last year but failed to get past the Six Chair Challenge.

X Factor returns for the first of the Live Shows on ITV on Saturday at 8pm.
