The X Factor 2015: Mason Noise leaves in first Saturday night eviction after flash vote

Mason Noise has left the X Factor in the first Saturday night eviction of the series after a 10-minute flash-vote.

The wannabe pop star received the fewest public votes after the lines were opened for just 10 minutes at the end of the show.

His version of ‘Jealous’ by Nick Jonas was criticised by Simon Cowell for being “a little bit cold”, but his mentor Nick Grimshaw said immediately after his exit that Mason was a “visionary”.

“He’s exactly the kind of pop star that there should be - I’m not worried about the future of Mason Noise”, Grimshaw said.

Earlier on, Louisa Johnson had continued her apparently unstoppable march toward the final with a rendition of James Bay’s ‘Let It Go’ which brought a standing ovation from all four judges.

Cowell said: “Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. There is always a moment with singers in these competitions – Fleur with Uptown Funk, Leona with Summertime – I think you’ve just had that moment with this song. Stunning.”

Reggie and Bollie threatened to steal her thunder with a mash-up of Fuse ODG’s ‘Dangerous Love’ and Walk the Moon’s ‘Shut Up and Dance’ accompanied by a technicolour production featuring Brazilian carnival dancers.

Cowell said afterwards: “I think that you’re going to be in the finals of this competition. This country is really falling love with you.”
