Gogglebox: Kids’ special episode to air at Christmas

One of the biggest reality TV hits of recent years has been Channel 4’s Gogglebox, making stars out of a series of ordinary households across the UK.

Now, Digital Spy are reporting that a one-off special episode starring children instead of the regular Gogglebox commentators is in production, and it due to air around Christmas this year.

A casting call for the episode is asking for “outgoing kids from all over the UK who have something to say”.

The special will see children commenting on various events from 2015, rather than solely focusing on current programming.

Tim Harcourt, from Gogglebox producers Studio Lambert, said: “We have seen that kids say the funniest things on TV, and this version of the Channel 4 hit will allow schoolchildren from different backgrounds to do this as they react to their screens - big and small.”

Channel 4's David Glover said: "I first saw Jurassic Park in a cinema with some kids sitting behind me. There's a scene in which you see some jelly wobble to the thud of an impending dinosaur. The kid behind me just said, 'Jelly!' That makes me think this could work."
