Pokémon GO just fixed the 'nearby sightings' feature in the latest update and it makes a huge difference

Weeks in, and the Pokémon GO hype train shows no signs of slowing down – and the latest update makes the game even more addictive.

The smartphone game is slowly improving with each software patch, and now the ‘nearby Pokémon’ feature just got a much-needed fix.

The glitchy icon in the bottom right corner of the screen has been given an overhaul – and now gives you more specific hints about where to find certain nearby creatures.

That means you’ll be doing less aimless wandering around, and more targeted hunting in your local area when an elusive rare monster shows up as being close.

One user shared a video of themselves using the new feature, which gave specific locations to find an Exeggcute and a Kingler.

This should improve gameplay, as you’ll be better set to catch rare Pokémon without having to guess which direction to move in.

However, it seems not everybody will be able to use the Nearby and Sightings feature quite yet.

In a note alongside the update, Niantic said: “We’re currently testing a variation of the “Nearby Pokémon” feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokémon UI.”
