Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: Victorian London is your new playground

The title and setting for the new Assassin’s Creed game has just been announced by developers Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be available later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and will this time pitch players in Victorian London. The series sees contemporary protagonists cast back into the bodies of their ancestors to command the course of history, with the franchise beginning during the Crusades (12th Century), through to the Renaissance, the Colonial era, the French revolution, and most recently Imperial China.

The Victorian era will be the most up-to-date setting for the series, with Syndicate taking place in 1868, during the Industrial Revolution. The game begins with a new protagonist named Jacob Frye, who is described as "more brash, more brutal, more confrontational". The series is moving ahead with the times in more than just setting – the game will feature a major female character for the first time in the Assassin’s Creed series, Jacob's sister Evie.

Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin will also appear in the game in some capacity.
