Burley, however, was less forgiving-"Zamora certainly stamped on our player's back," he said.
"Normally a blatant stamp is a red card but the referee didn't think it was intentional. I thought it was."
Although, Poll did not send off Zamora, another of his decisions did anger Pardew.
"We were denied a penalty when Marlon Harewood went down after the break," said the West Ham manager. "Graham Poll never seems to give us anything."
West Ham held on for a deserved point after a wonderful 11th-minute goal from winger Matthew Etherington.
His powerful shot beat goalkeeper Lee Camp with the help of a deflection off Jeff Kenna and cancelled out Michael Johnson's header in the sixth minute.
Meanwhile, Poll could be in the spotlight again after he emerged as the controversial choice to referee the 24 October Premiership clash between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Poll was in charge when the teams met at Highbury last March and he infuriated Sir Alex Ferguson by turning down a United penalty claim.
The row led to him being replaced for United's match against Liverpool last season.
