Woods dismisses slump talk

Tiger Woods today finds himself without a major title to his name for the first time in nearly four years,

Frustration was etched on the 27-year-old American's face from the moment he began his US Open challenge with an even-par 70. In round two he carded a 75 - his worst score as a professional in seven US Opens. And Woods, a distant 15th in the US Masters, reacted angrily when a reporter suggested he was in a slump.

He replied: "I've won three tournaments out of seven events I've played this year and you're telling me I'm in a slump?"

The world No1 finished with a tournament total of three-overpar 283, trailing winner Jim Furyk by 11 behind shots.
