Windies may look to Hooper again

A campaign has been launched in the Caribbean to sack Jimmy Adams as the West Indian captain and bring back former Kent star Carl Hooper.

Adams led the team in the recent 5-0 Test whitewash in Australia and the critics at home have savaged his captaincy.

But, instead of considering vice-captain Sherwin Campbell as a replacement, the selectors are having another look at the credentials of 34-year-old Hooper.

Recently, Hooper scored 150 for his adopted Trinidad against Barbados and the media in both countries are calling for his re-call.

Hooper, who played for Guyana between 1984-96, has now built a new life in Trinidad after a disastrous time playing grade cricket in Australia. His weight ballooned to more than 16 stone after the England tour of the West Indies two years ago and he was dropped from the Test side.

His international career appeared to be over after 80 Tests but he has trained hard and rediscovered his appetite for cricket.
