What Ledley thinks on...

When we meet with England we always reminisce about the old days when we played together at Senrab [an east London under-14 team]. John used to play in midfield. You could see he was a leader at that age. Even though he was quite small, he was really good in the air. He was a midfield general and a leader off the pitch as well. You can see those qualities today.
No one knew where we were going to end up, but all we knew was that we had a good team. JLloyd Samuel, Bobby Zamora and Paul Konchesky were also in the side. Like John, some of them have changed position since then. Jlloyd was more of a forward, so was Paul Konchesky, but Bobby was always a striker and I was a centre-back. I think it was because I was the biggest and could kick the ball the furthest!

Martin Jol

I think he has brought some passion in. He is passionate about football. I think the main thing is that he has come in and turned us into winners. Over the years, Tottenham have got too used to losing games. They will win one week and lose the next and settle for that.
But it shouldn't be like that for us. To use his favourite word, Martin is trying to get the winning "mentality" across to us. If we can go out on the pitch really wanting to win games and really hurting if we lose, then we stand a much better chance.
When Martin came in, he gave the players freedom to express themselves. He has combined that with work rate and drive. There are also players - like Michael Carrick and Michael Brown - who didn't really play under [Jacques] Santini, but have now come in and shown what they can do.

Sol Campbell

He played in my position and was also the captain when I first broke into the team. He was a man to look up to from a young age. Like me, he was also from the East End. He was a great example. I realised that if he can make it, why can't I?
I watched the way he played and tried to follow what he did. I was as surprised as anyone else when he joined Arsenal. In fact, I was shocked, but these things happen in football. It was his decision. Probably the reason was to go and win trophies and also staying in London. And he has certainly won trophies.
