Wenger to use video evidence

Arsene Wenger is considering using video evidence when he contests a charge of improper conduct at a Football Association disciplinary hearing over his claim that Ruud Van Nistelrooy was a "cheat".

Wenger, whose side face a crunch Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven tonight, was charged because of remarks made about the Dutch striker following the 'battle of the buffet' at Old Trafford last month. Wenger said in a TV interview: "We know how Ruud van Nistelrooy behaves. He can only cheat people - we know him very well.''

Wenger's stance is certain to infuriate United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and reignite the feud between Arsenal and Manchester United ahead of next Wednesday's Carling Cup clash.

Ferguson claimed Wenger has a "mental block where Ruud is concerned". If Wenger is allowed to show a sequence of alleged misdemeanours on video to the FA to justify his comments, it will be certain to spark a new row with the United manager.

Ferguson could point to United's decision to offer no defence to a charge levelled at Van Nistelrooy by the FA following his ugly challenge on Ashley Cole in the 2-0 United win that ended Arsenals' unbeaten league run that had stretched to 49 games.

Arsenal vice- chairman David Dein and Manchester United chief executive David Gill have spoken on several occasions to broker a peace deal but Wenger is adamant he has done nothing wrong.
