Wenger: It's still in our hands

Arsene Wenger knows that Arsenal must win at Bolton tonight to avoid the daunting challenge that faced George Graham in the epic climax to the 1988-89 campaign.

Arsenal secured a memorable title victory that season by the narrowest of margins, beating the defending champions Liverpool at Anfield, and will face a similar task if they fail to win at the Reebok Stadium tonight.

Three points against Bolton will mean that Arsenal could clinch the league at Old Trafford on 8 May. But anything less will leave the door open for the defending champions, who are two points adrift.

If Arsenal draw tonight, United will overtake them on goal difference if they win when the two Premiership heavyweights meet in the decisive match of the Premiership season four days after the FA Cup Final.

If United then win their final match, at home to Charlton, they would almost certainly-take the title on goal difference regardless of the outcome of Arsenal's final game against Everton at Highbury.

"As far as I'm concerned nothing has changed," said Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger. "It is still in our hands. If we win our last three games we will be champions and it will not matter what others do."
