We were awful, admits Dallaglio

Wasps skipper Lawrence Dallaglio admitted his side had lost all respect after their 59-21 thrashing at Newcastle.

'We deserved to lose by that score,' said the England back row star. 'We started the season with two very disappointing results and we've spent the last four or five weeks earning a bit of respect. We just lost all that in one performance.

'Some of our players seemed to have their own agenda and, if you picked a representative side tomorrow, none of my guys would be in it.' England fly half Jonny Wilkinson collected a personal tally of 29 points and his right-footed drop goal from 45 metres turned the screw on Wasps after the Falcons had bounced back from two Kenny Logan tries to lead 23-14 at half time.

Logan touched down twice in three minutes after John Leslie had given Newcastle an early lead but Jamie Noon scored just before the break and Wilkinson kicked two penalties, including one from halfway. His drop goal came after a marvellous try from Wasps scrum half Martyn Wood.

Two tries each from Liam Botham and Gary Armstrong saw the Falcons cruise away and manager Rob Andrew said: 'It's as satisfying a performance as we've had, although we still had a couple of five-minute spells of madness in each half.

'We won't get carried away but I think we are not far off the Baths and Leicesters of this world. The players have to believe it themselves and we have to do it next week, next month, next season.'
