We need new faces, says Phil Parkinson

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson will look to boost his squad with some loan signings to prevent their League One title challenge from fizzling out.

The Addicks slumped to a 1-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient last night after former Charlton striker Scott McGleish headed in a second-half winner.

The defeat was Charlton's first at The Valley this season and means they missed out on the chance to move level on points with leaders Norwich and Leeds.

Parkinson admitted his side were below par and will be speaking with the club's chairman Richard Murray today about bringing in some new faces.

He said: "A few additions now would give us a lift but if we don't get them, this group of players have not done badly. I will sit down with the chairman and discuss where we go."

McGleish, 35, enjoyed his first return to The Valley since 1995 by scoring his 10th goal of the season for Orient.

He said: "I was delighted to score against an old club. I've not been back since I left 15 years ago.

"I still feel that there is life left in these legs."
