We must forget United, says Wilkins

Ray Wilkins today urged Millwall to forget about Manchester United and focus on their bid to reach the play-offs.

The FA Cup finalists face fellow promotion chasers Cardiff tonight without three of their key players as they enter a crucial period of three games in six days.

Millwall are without player-manager Dennis Wise (knee), skipper Kevin Muscat (knee) and Paul Ifill (groin), all injured in Sunday's defeat of Sunderland.

Peter Sweeney and Andy Roberts are expected to start while midfielder Marvin Elliott and defender Alan Dunne will also come into contention. Assistant manager Wilkins says he expects Wise and Ifill to be sidelined for a fortnight, which means they will be available in time for the FA Cup Final on 22 May.

But right-back Muscat faces a race against time to get fit for the Manchester United clash. Millwall claim that a "conservative estimate" will mean he will be out for a month.

Wilkins said: "It's marvellous to be playing Manchester United in the FA Cup Final but we want to be playing teams like that every week.

"The games are coming so thick and fast at the moment that the players haven't got time to think about what they achieved on Sunday.

"We now need to stay focused and do everything we can to get into the play-offs. There are a lot of games coming up over the Easter period including those involving other teams at the top of the table."

Tim Cahill, who was yesterday named Division One player of the month, will be hoping to continue his remarkable scoring run of five goals in his past five games.
