Warnock to show off Palace jewels

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has promised to give youth a chance between now and the end of the season following his side's 4-2 defeat at Burnley last night.

Warnock was critical of the manner in which Palace squandered a two-goal lead and conceded three goals in the final eight minutes, including a pivotal penalty.

The result leaves Palace stuck on 47 points, eight above the relegation zone in mid-table, and even though there is still work to be done Warnock is looking to the future.

He said: "We looked confident and had a strong lead. The penalty has proved a big turning point but we need to show more. A typical Neil Warnock team wouldn't have lost that game. We need some surgery in the summer.

"I'd like to get a few of the injured players back because we've got an horrific week with the fixtures. Once we've got the points we need then we've got some terrific young players who can come in and have a few games between now and the end of the season."

Palace were gifted the opening goal when a defensive mix-up allowed Shefki Kuqi to score his first since December and seventh of the season. Clarke Carlisle's own goal doubled Palace's lead before the Burnley defender pulled one back on the stroke of half-time.
