Walker calls it a day

Nottingham Forest veteran Des Walker has hung up his boots after an illustrious playing career spanning more than 20 years - but he has agreed to remain at the City Ground in a coaching capacity.

The centre-half joined Forest as an 18-year-old trainee in 1983, moving on to Sampdoria and then Sheffield Wednesday before a return to the banks of the Trent in July 2002.

Walker also collected 59 caps for England but the 38-year-old played his last game for Forest against West Brom this month.
