"I'm more of a gentleman than that but I know he ( Beckham) likes to tell everything. I'll just say what he said was not pleasant at all. The England team were out to incite us and I was their target. I didn't say anything about Beckham's mother. I don't even know his mother."
Beckham has admitted that he confronted the Turkish defender at half-time. He said: "When I missed the penalty he and someone else shouted in my face. Then, as he passed me at half-time he clipped me and said, 'F*** your mother'. I confronted him and their players over-reacted."
Beckham and Alpay were called into referee Pierluigi Collina's room and told to cool down by him. The rest of the game passed off without any major incident.
UEFA officials will look at reports from both Collina and the governing body's delegate at the game, but are unlikely to take action against either team.
Standard Sport understands that both Collina and the UEFA delegate are not expected to make too much of the incident, especially since both teams calmed down in the secondhalf after the referee called Beckham and Alpay into his dressing room for a talk.
UEFA are pleased that the game took place with no major incidents' off the field after the pre-match concerns-about hooliganism. They are now very unlikely to spark a huge dispute between the two countries by demanding disciplinary action.
Despite securing their place at the finals with the 0-0 draw against Turkey, England could have been banned from going to Portugal if there had been serious trouble with fans in Istanbul.
The behaviour of England supporters at friendlies in the run-up to the finals will be watched closely by the football authorities.
World governing body FIFA - - not UEFA - - has jurisdiction over those games. If there were serious trouble, it would therefore be up to FIFA to take disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, in today's draw in Frankfurt for the qualifying playoffs, 10 teams, runners-up in their qualifying groups, are all unseeded.
It means that two strong sides such as Spain and the Netherlands could meet in next month's two-legged play-offs with one missing next year's finals.
