Meanwhile, Dennis Bergkamp wants his Arsenal future settled by the end of the season - and the indications are that he will be offered a new one-year deal by the club.

But the squad is set be supplemented by Feyenoord striker Robin van Persie. He was close to a move to Highbury during the transfer window last January but the Rotterdam club made Arsenal's interest public and the increased the fee.
