Vaughan: Fans can help us win Ashes

Michael Vaughan today insisted that England's supporters have a big part to play when they take on Australia in the Ashes.

Beating the Aussies by the crushing margin of 100 runs in last night's Twenty20 international at Southampton means England have now won their most recent matches against the Aussies in three different forms of cricket.

Following on from the Sydney Test of 2003 (225 runs) and the Champions Trophy one-dayer in Birmingham eight months ago (six wickets), Vaughan's men dismissed Australia for just 79 at The Rose Bowl.

A full house crowd of 15,000 roared England to success and captain Vaughan said: "It's great to know the public are behind us. It was like a football atmosphere when we were taking wickets and if we play well this summer we know we are going to get supported.

"The most important thing is that we keep doing the basics, keep preparing and keep enjoying our cricket. If we do that, you never know where it can end up."
