Vase semi-finals line-up complete

KES, MORPETH AND SOLIHULL POWER INTO SEMISThe Vase semi-finals line-up on March 3 at Castlecroft are complete afterthumping wins for King Edward's, Morpeth and Solihull 6th Form College.

KES entertained Northampton School for Boys on Tuesday but pulled thewelcome mat from under them in the first seven minutes when they scoredthree tries, two of them courtesy of right wing John Brennan. It launchedtheir best performance of the season against the shell-shocked visitorswho, to their credit, never rolled over despite the onslaught.

KES turnedaround 19-0 up and conceded a converted try soon after half time but theywere soon back in their stride with two tries from inside centre TomWilkinson, two for left wing David Riley, which took his tally to 20 forthe season, and one apiece for flanker Michael Ord and full back AndrewLees. Stuart Mumford kicked four conversions to complete the 57-5scoreline.

It was a similar story at Solihull where they got off to a flyer againstBolton with two tries from centre Joel Williams and scrum half Tom Johnsonin the first ten minutes. They were a little concerned to be without theirWales fly half James Ireland - on tour with his country in Portugal - buthis stand-in Alex Stojka had a great game, scoring one of eight tries andkicking five conversions in the 50-7 victory.

Stephen Halbert scored athird try before Bolton pulled a score back just after half time to make it19-7. Solihull were soon in their stride again, running in tries from theirtwins on the wings Robert (2) and Ashley Powell plus Stojka and flankerDarren Forder.

Solihull will face Dartford Grammar and KES Morpeth tackle St Bart's,Newbury for a place in the final at Twickenham on Sunday, March 24.
