United's new Real deal for Beckham

Manchester United will receive £1million less than first thought for David Beckham from Real Madrid.

In an announcement to the Stock Exchange this morning, United confirmed that they would be receiving an £11.1m one-off payment from the Spanish club - rather than £12.1m which was going to be spread over the next four years as the second part of the deal.

United spent £26m during the summer and have decided to balance their books immediately with the cash which is due to arrive today.

United will be due a further £7m depending on Real's performances over the period of Beckham's fouryear deal and received £5.2m when he signed.

The transfer is now worth a total amount of £23.3m if all requirements are met.
