A: A delivery which does not conform to the laws of the game. The incidents yesterday concerned the position of the bowlers' feet.
The relevant cricket rule is law 24, section five. It states that, in the stride during which the ball is delivered, the bowler's front foot must land with some part of it behind the "popping crease" (the line in front of the wicket).
The part of the foot behind the line does not have to be touching the ground. In other words, if the bowler lands on his toe, but the heel, although in the air, is behind the line, it is a legitimate delivery. Yesterday's four deliveries should have been no-balls because the bowler's front foot landed completely in front of the line.
