Asked if he did believe it all, he responded with a grin: "I don't think so except Ferdinand." Cobanoglu admitted thought that the Manchester United defender's absence can only help the Turkish cause. "He is the most expensive defender in Europe and I think England will miss him," he said.
"I don't know what he (Rio) is saying about what happened and it is not for me to judge but he must be sorry because he is missing a great match.
"People in Turkey want to see the best 11 England players and so they would have wanted to see Ferdinand. But that's football, and Mr Eriksson can find good players as a replacement."
That replacement still looks odds-on to be John Terry who in tandem with Campbell will have to shackle Turkey's striker Hakan Sukur.
