Costs were higher but the FA ended the year with pre-tax profits of £11.9m, more than any Premiership club except Manchester United and Arsenal.
Payments to the board soared from £712,000 to £1.28m and the total wage-bill for the FA was 20 per cent higher at £22.9m, with the pay-roll rising from 244 to almost 300. New chief executive Mark Palios has since laid off 40 staff to reduce costs.
