Tremlett in frame

Michael Vaughan's England team will go into this week's First Test against Bangladesh knowing that not one but two Hampshire players are hammering on the door.

Kevin Pietersen's back-to-back centuries against Kent and Glamorgan may have come too late to force a rethink by the selection committee.

But they mean that England's chosen batsmen are under pressure to perform this summer. Pietersen wasn't the only Hampshire player unlucky to miss out on selection for the First Test.

Paceman Chris Tremlett had shown enough promise to be named in England's development squad. Yesterday, it was Tremlett who did most to wreck Glamorgan's first innings at the Rose Bowl, taking four for 42. Then, when the visitors followed on, he dismissed their former Australia Test opener Matthew Elliott.
