Tom Scudamore has faith in 10-1 Madison Du Berlais

While the big market moves have been for Miss Mitch and Kilcrea Castle, jockey Tom Scudamore believes Madison Du Berlais should not be overlooked for Saturday's Racing Post Chase.

The David Pipe-trained nine-year-old was a distant second to Kauto Star in the King Gorge VI Chase on his previous visit to Kempton, then ran a below-par fourth to Taranis in a Grade 2 event at Cheltenham last month.

Consequently, punters appear to have deserted him, preferring instead to put their faith in the Sally Alner-trained Miss Mitch, who was backed in from 12-1 yesterday to 13-2 this morning with Totesport, and Emma Lavelle's Kilcrea Castle, who is now 5-1 with the same firm, having been available at 9-1 two days ago.

Nacarat, who led for a long while in the King George before tiring into fourth, is the current 7-2 favourite for the three-mile Grade 3 Handicap.

But Scudamore hopes Madison Du Berlais, a 10-1 shot for the race who also holds a Cheltenham Gold Cup entry, will produce the goods, despite having to concede 4lb to his rivals.

He said: "He likes Kempton and has put up some of his best performances there, including when beating Denman last February, and I wouldn't want to swap him for any other horse in the race.
