"There are not many people who score hat-tricks at international level. It was a fantastic night for me and the family and for England."
Walcott has been given the No14 shirt that Thierry Henry made famous but continues to play down the comparisons between himself and his hero.
"I know I am always going to get it," he said. "Thierry, I think he started pushing on when he was about 22 so I have got quite a bit to go. Hopefully I will just keep on playing as I am at the moment.
"Hopefully if I keep on performing well I can keep my position. That was my goal just to try and cement a place in this Arsenal team."
Emmanuel Adebayor netted a hat-trick after Robin van Persie opened the scoring and despite Arsenal's strikers proving they are in fine form at Blackburn, Walcott believes his future lies playing up front.
When asked if he wanted to play in attack, he said: "Hopefully, we'll have to see. I will just play in this team wherever on the pitch. Obviously the boss thinks I will be a striker and I do as well but I will do the job and play anywhere for the team."
