This Miami club night may be just right for Harrison

Expect an announcement later this week that Audley Harrison's 12th professional opponent will be American Marcus McIntyre.
If late contract negotiations for the fight at a Miami nightclub next Tuesday are successful, McIntyre will represent a reasonable piece of matchmaking for Harrison. The 33-year-old heavyweight has won 24 fights with his three defeats, all by third round stoppages, being against recognised 'names' Cedric Boswell, Wladimir Klitschko and Oliver McCall.

Fair shores attract Foul Pole

Andrew Golota, the "Foul Pole" who dramatically folded against Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson, is attempting to resurrect his heavyweight career by moving from the United States to Great Britain. Golota, disgraced by his two disqualifications for landing low blows on former world champion Riddick Bowe, has signed for the Fight Academy team led by promoters Robert Waterman and Dennis Hobson.

Klitschko gets in shape for another episode of Corrie

Six months after losing his WBO world heavyweight title to Corrie Sanders, Wladimir Klitschko is demanding a rematch with the South African after marking his comeback with a first round win over Fabio Moli, of Argentina, at the weekend.
Klitschko's brother Vitali, who lost his own world championship challenge to Lennox Lewis in June, said: "Wladimir convinced me he is back as good as new."

Ted 'Kid' Lewis, one of the greatest fighters produced by England and twice a winner of the world welterweight championship between 1915 and 1919, was also the first boxer to wear a gumshield. His contribution to the sport will be marked with an English Heritage Blue Plaque outside Nightingale House in south London, where he spent his last years.
The sport this week joined movie buffs in mourning the death of Charles Bronson. He was a huge fan of boxing, often watching major title fights from prime ringside seats. He also played a bareknuckle streetfighter in the 1975 film Hard Times, which is still regarded as one of the best boxing stories on the big screen.
