England v Spain, Euro 96 Seaman came out on top in more penalty drama in Euro '96 when the quarter-final clash with Spain went down to a shoot-out. Alan Shearer, David Platt, Stuart Pearce and Paul Gascoigne netted their spot-kicks while Fernando Hierro hit the bar. Still, it came down to Seaman, who saved Miguel Angel Nadal's shot to spark wild celebrations.

England v Germany, World Cup qualifier, September 2001 The manner in which England took their goals in their 5-1 win will live long in the memory. Yet at 1-1, there was little sign of the rout that was to follow and had Seaman not superbly saved Jorg Bohme's shot moments before Steven Gerrard put England ahead, the result could have been very different.

England v Argentina, World Cup first round, June 2002 Another memorable England victory which might not have happened had it not been for Seaman. David Beckham's penalty ultimately won the match but England had to hang on and Seaman again covered himself in glory with a fine save to deny Mauricio Pochettino an equaliser.

THE LOWS

Arsenal v Real Zaragoza, European Cup Winners' Cup final, May 1995 The lowest moment of Seaman's club career happened late in extra-time. With the game locked at 1-1, penalties were likely when former Tottenham player Nayim tried a speculative effort from just inside the Arsenal half. To the Gunners' horror, the ball looped over Seaman's head and the frantically back-pedalling keeper could not keep it out.

England v Germany, World Cup qualifier, October 2001 England's last game at the old Wembley will not be remembered fondly by Seaman, who allowed Dietmar Hamann's free-kick to squirm through his grasp and into the net for the game's only goal.

England v Brazil, World Cup quarter-final, June 2002 Seaman's most high-profile mistake. He was caught in no-man's land as Ronaldinho's second-half free-kick drifted over his head to send England to a 2-1 defeat and a disappointing World Cup exit.
