But so far the only Scot that Coleman has turned to is assistant manager Steve Kean, who has been an important part of Fulham's success this season.
Coleman said: "I don't really talk to other managers about their teams.
"We have a chat after games but only about what has happened in the 90 minutes. I think you have to be your own man. That is why I didn't bring anyone in upstairs. I want to make my own decisions and live or die by them."
After Newcastle, Fulham have games against Manchester United and Liverpool. Coleman said: "They are three very good teams and I am not setting any points targets. I don't want to put any extra pressure on the lads."
Luis Boa Morte has a hamstring injury and is a doubt for tonight's game but a shoulder problem means fellow striker Facundo Sava will definitely not play.
Newcastle will be without striker Craig Bellamy, who has been sent to see a specialist in America for a sixth operation to cure knee problems.
Nolberto Solano will also be missing after storming out at Middlesbrough when he was dropped on Saturday. Kieron Dyer and Andy Griffin both picked up minor knocks at the weekend and have also not travelled.
