Tetley's Bitter Cup - Rugby Focus

The Cup throws up its usual mishmash of walkovers and tight calls in the fourth round this weekend.

The biggest London clubs are drawn away, leaving the field clear for the minnows to attract a crowd - with the biggest beneficiaries likely to be ROSSLYN PARK, at home to Newcastle in a throwback to their glory days.

The club still have happy memories of glorious Cup runs, but in the new professional age upsets are less likely than ever before, and Park's involvement is likely to end at the hands of the Premiership side.

ESHER are enjoying a good run in Division Two, part of the mid-table pack after beating Fylde away, and have a sliver of a chance against Waterloo. Their visitors are a league above them, and should be too strong - but, on the other hand, they haven't been playing too well lately. An Esher win is improbable at best.

London's Premiership big guns suffered mixed fortunes in the draw. They are all away, but face quite different opposition.

WASPS have the worst of it, travelling west to face Premiership rivals Bristol. The Londoners have league form in their favour, but recent European Cup games have been dodgy, while Bristol have been regaining a measure of confidence in their European Shield group. Still, Wasps should be strong enough.

SARACENS have a shorter journey and a bit less to worry about, despite the inability of their kickers to hit the inside of a barn, let alone get the ball through the posts. Relegated Bedford are not having a fantastically happy time in National League One and could be the tonic Saracens need.

HARLEQUINS must travel further than Wasps, to Plymouth, but will do so more in expectation than hope. Losing this game would be spectacular even by Quins' standards.
