Terry quick to play down talk of glory

John Terry today warned his Chelsea team-mates not to get carried away by their Champions League victory over Arsenal.

Frank Lampard has suggested Chelsea are capable of winning the competition after eliminating one of the favourites, but Terry believes any talk of bringing the European Cup to Stamford Bridge is premature.

The defender said: "Just because we've beaten Arsenal we're not getting carried away and saying we're going to win the competition. Monaco beat a very good side and it'll be very tough in the semi-finals. I'm pleased Real Madrid have gone out but if Monaco can beat them then they're obviously no mugs.

"We have to keep our feet on the ground."

Terry's immediate concern is preparing for tough Premiership games against Middlesbrough and Aston Villa over Easter.

Chelsea have narrowed the gap behind Arsenal at the top of the table to four points by winning five straight games and believe that they can catch the Gunners.

Terry said: "We've got two league games in the space of three days and it's important we win them both. We're not going to give up on the Premiership title and have said that all season

"We'll keep fighting and put pressure on Arsenal. They are still a great side but have blown up before and we'd love that to happen. However, there's no point in them slipping up if we slip up as well. We've got to win our games and keep up the pressure.
