Telfer back for one final fling with Scotland

The old Lion renews his famous partnership with Ian McGeechan at the age of 62 in a revamped team that includes the appointment of former New Zealand captain Todd Blackadder as one of five assistant coaches.

The back row forward responsible for launching Canterbury's monopoly of the Super Twelve joined Edinburgh last season and now reinforces a panel which includes All Black Pat Lam.

McGeechan said: 'Todd is an inspirational figure - honest, diligent and hard-nosed, all qualities which can rub off on players. He and Jim are excellent role models.' Telfer made a major contribution to the Lions' series win in South Africa five years ago, when he and McGeechan were last in tandem on the global stage.

A third New Zealander, Sean Lineen, best remembered for his role in Scotland's epic Grand Slam defeat of England 12 years ago, returns to the national cause at Under 21 level as an assistant coach. Former England No.8 Steve Ojomoh is back in British rugby with Newport after a season at Italian club Parma.

Canadian scrum half Morgan Williams, Saracens' latest signing from Stade Francais, will make his debut next week during their pre-season trip to Japan.
