Stuart: It's not over yet

Graham Stuart today insisted that Charlton can still qualify for Europe this season.

Alan Curbishley's side have slipped to eighth in recent weeks after winning just one of their past seven games, but Stuart is adamant their season is far from over.

Charlton must win their three remaining games, starting with tomorrow's visit of Leicester, to have any chance of a first-ever European finish.

Stuart said: "The challenge is there for us. If we win tomorrow, then two from two sounds a lot easier.

"We've slipped out of the top six but one win and we're back in there, so it's not all doom and gloom. There's no question that this year was as good an opportunity as there's ever going to be and we can still do it."

Charlton were in the top six from November to March but, as in the last two seasons, have struggled to maintain their form. The Addicks have won just three of their 13 matches since Scott Parker's sale to Chelsea in January. But Stuart refuses to blame their slump on the star midfielder's departure.

The former Everton midfielder, who is set to sign a one-year contract extension at The Valley, added: "People will point to the Parker sale but we've got to stop talking about that. He was a hell of a good player but he's gone. If we start feeling sorry for ourselves, we'll end up in the bottom half of the league."

Shaun Barlett returns tomorrow after a hamstring injury, while Mark Fish rejoins the squad for the first time since having 39 stitches after falling through a glass table at home.
