Struggling Adams dealt cup blow

Tony Adams has been hit by a selection blow as he prepares for tonight's FA Cup second-round replay at Mansfield.

The former England and Arsenal captain, still searching for his first league win as Wycombe manager, will have to do without loan duo Luke Moore and Steven Taylor after they were refused permission to play by their clubs, Aston Villa and Newcastle respectively.

Keith Curle has a full-strength Mansfield squad from which to select ahead of the match with Division Two strugglers Wycombe, with a home tie against Burnley awaiting in the third round.

The two sides drew 1-1 earlier in the month and despite Wycombe's struggles, Adams said: "I'm seeing some improvement. It's a hell of a job but that's why I took it." Meanwhile, Danny Wilson has called on Bristol City to get mean as he prepares to take on his former club Barnsley for a place in the third round.

Wilson said: "We're playing terrific football, but it's important we start turning these performances into victories. We need to be a little nastier in the box."

Tommy Doherty is expected to return in midfield after missing the league game at the weekend with flu while defender Kevin Amankwaah (knee) looks likely to remain on the sidelines. Barnsley defender Paul Warhurst will miss the game since he is cup-tied as the Tykes look to secure a home tie against Scunthorpe or Sheffield Wednesday in round three.
